Have you lapped the stone yet? It should go away.

Goo Gone !!! Really???? Somehow that seemed like a good idea???

Well you will be the one to answer on how it effects the hone as I have never read of anyone else trying it...

You just oiled you whetstone. Petroleum distillates and citrus terpenes. hmmmm I remember that stuff feeling slick like oil. Well your hone will stink good for awhile and I hope that's all it does to it.

My real fear would be it breaks down the resin binder, guess we will all learn from this one about how durable Naniwa SS hones are

I was thinking that too ! I searched around but only know it is used as a degreaser and not sure what holds the grit together. Yikes.

I would wash the heck out it and let it sit. see what it looks like. Might not be more than surface damage that laps off later. If it was wet when he applied the GG that would help I think. Let's hope for the best !

Yep, would lap it ASAP before it penetrates.

I hope your stone will be OK.

Probably contacting naniwa would be an idea, and I too simply lapped mine after removing the sticker.

All mine came off but could clearly see where the sticker was and a little residue. By the time it was lapped entire surface is taken off so no more mark or residue.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
