Default Honing in time of need

Sitting here alone, my new born son and wife is at the hospital(doctor was thinking he was sick, and it was just a elektronic error..) honing away on my broken razor with an water stone.

Well, if it is I'm strange too.

I love honing. I've gotten to a point where my blades are
all where I want them to be, and I feel like tapping one on
the faucet just so I can rehone it.

I guess I have to start a new hobby.

    I find honing very relaxing.

Me too. Great for calming the mind.

No, yeah, it's very comforting and 'grounding' due to the fundamental nature. Honing, like stropping, is very much a meditative thing, I find. Polishing boots is also good for the mind. And ironing. And polishing cufflinks. Also, letter writing with a dip pen is cool, especially on a little table set up outside in the sun, with maybe a bottle of Swedish pear cider...

My wife says that I look nefarious when I hone, there is always a little smile on my face and I take slow deliberate strokes. When you know you have hit the edge evenly it is a very satisfying feeling.
