Thanked: 177My tomo slurry breaks down much faster than what I get off the dmt. That is irrelevant to you as every stone is different. I need to apply reasonable pressure or even the tomo slurry can take a while as well. My ozuku asagi also. I have an ohira kiita lv 4 and nakayama koppa asagi on the way from JNS.

I've been experimenting with a 3 stone progression lately. Results are equal or better than incremental honing.
After a bevel set on a synthetic I use a Yaginoshima Asagi with Tsushima slurry & then a Nakayama or Shobudani Asagi with a Namito slurry to finish, diluting to water, & sometimes not. Sometimes using an Atoma to slurry the finisher. Sometimes 4 dry strokes on the finisher afterwards.
Not using any Nagura at all. Not sure if this is easily re-created with other stones but i think the Coarse,Medium, Fine progression is nothing new .
So far this is only for razors so I wouldn't worry about having an excess of stones or Nagura . They'll be useful at some point. If a stone lies dormant on my bench for a few years then I might consider selling it.The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
