Here's a thread on testing and shaving at the 1k level. Hope it helps!

You don't need to shave your entire face for a shave test. There's a video of Glens (gssixgun) that shows what constitutes a shave test.

+1 to a shave test consisting on a single stroke...simple and easy. Just prep one area and see how it feels.

Dealing with a recalcitrant blade is frustrating. One tip both Lynn and Glen have espoused, and I have taken advantage of, is to put the razor away for another day. Come back to it fresh and rested.

Yes! Thank-you! Just the words of reassurance I need, thanks,...came pretty close to putting my DD Goldedge on the classifieds today, think the blade hates me...more nicks and cuts in 3 shaves with it than I've had all year. Took it to the Coti, the CrOx etc...then put some oil on it, and PUT IT AWAY for another time before I run screaming through my neighborhood like some nut from a Halloween movie...oh wait...that's next week ;-)

But yes, I put it the heck away!!!

OK - took a break from this last night... spent a good 30 mins on the 1K and checked the edge under the scope at each stage - the edge I have now is objectively very sharp - i.e. drops arm hairs and HHT5 - I'm not ready for a shave yet but will be tomorrow am - you can bet I'll be using this thing!

Here's the pic of the final edge:

There's a bit of digital artifact at the edge - it's an old camera - that's what the purple fringe is.

That doesn't look suspect to me. Did you complete that edge with 1K only?

Scope pictures of bevel set in another thread here. Compare the two.
