Start with the bevel and when you can shave with that then move up in grits. Stay at the 1k long enough and you will learn how to hone. Or need more steel :<0)

Ouch - hurts just to think of it! I reckon only old Dan Tucker (or Desperate Dan) could pull that off, mind you he combed his hair with a wagon wheel...
