Some pictures might help:
These pictures do not show the large bevel, sorry. But it shows the blade over all. I'm still going to finish hand sanding and then send it the the hones. The question is how much 3M to send it with.Last edited by JoelLewicki; 02-02-2014 at 06:52 PM.

I think the common ratio for blade:spine is something like 4:1 or 3.5:1 yours would be about 5:1. I have had a razor that had a ratio about 5:1 and it took an extremely sharp edge with that thin of an edge and it held it for quite awhile. I think anything past that might get fragile, but then again wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. I like the big bevel on some razors. Mainly on the heavier grinds, but not so much with extra hollows.

That looks closely like the first razor I bought to start straight shaving that turned out to be a razor "knife". I don't think 3 layers of tape would be enough for that one.

Thanked: 38Then the spine is too thin, the ideal spine would be 7.5-8/32"
Too large to get it with tape, the small plastic tube looks a good suggestion to me.

I like the idea that some genius posted the other day about making worn wedges into framebacks. Could try that.

Thanked: 3225I dunno, you might be able to get away with 4 layers of tape but you would have to be careful how far down the blade the tape goes. Probably would be pretty wobbly too. Yea, she is way outta whack.

You can always start with 5 layers of tape and see if the bevel allows less layers. I think that is the easiest thing to try. Make sure to tape perfectly straight! The razor will rest on the edge of the tape, not at the spine but a little below.

Thanked: 13245This thread has much of the info you are after
the links in that thread have even more

4:1 or 16-17 degrees the resulting edge of stretched geometries and whether they will work or not is dependent on the steel and HT
I have never ever seen a Vintage razor in Mint / NOS condition that had a large bevel only after incorrect honing does a large bevel appear...
Even those big huge near wedges when they are in good condition they have a small tiny bevel and are easy as any hollow grind to hone...
That all being said... a quick google search leads me to believe that you have an RSO after seeing your pics

These razors are just not designed to shave and that is why the Geometry is off, whether the steel will hold an edge with correct geometry I cannot answer on that brand, others that I have tested in the past have notLast edited by gssixgun; 02-02-2014 at 07:43 PM.
