Maybe I need to round a little bit more the edges....I already did it, but I think I can do it more....

Im using the same pressure that I use on the Norton, mine is turning dark very quick too. It is finner than the Norton 8k, but I hear a lot of noise while honning...

I use the following sequence beginning with the 8k and then the 15k
    5/5
    3/5
    1/5

    and thatīs all

thanks all of you for your help

I didn't round the edges of mine, it never seemed to need it. It's very quiet when honing, though I don't remember how it compares with the N8K (I go from N8k to S8k, then any pyramiding is done between the S8K and S15K).

I wonder if maybe there's something embedded in your hone? Did you lap it on sandpaper or something that may have contaminated it?

I lapped it first with the norton lapping stone, then with 600, 1000 and 2000 sand wet/dry

Under the microscope I only see small part of metal and some black points.....maybe parts of the sand paper?

I think for most razors this would overhone the edge. Just MHO.

If you're using a high quality wet/dry automotive sand paper to lap then you shouldn't have a problem. Lower quality sandpaper can leave particles behind which is bad. You would need to lap it again if that's the case.

that's what it sounds like. You shouldn't get any long-term accumulation of metal if you rinse it off and rub it down with your hand under running water after each use. Once I start getting swarf sticking around between uses I lap my 8k and 15k shaptons against each other, which cleans them off and flattens them again.

I'm using the following brand (from Amazon)

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...164309-7326800

I guess it has good quality because I didn't have any problem lapping the 8k Norton...

    one more thing....

I don't soak the Shapton in water before each use, I only spread some water over the stone before using it ( I do it because the instructions from Shapton say that)

I will try to lap again my shapton tonight, and will round the corners a little more, just to be sure that's not the problem...

one question, without the use of the microscope I can see small porous regularly distributed in the stone...all over the stone....is this normal?

Some one has a Shapton 15k close photo to compare?

The pores don't sound right at all, mine is perfectly smooth and dense even under a microscope. You may be able to lap past it, but it's possible the stone is bad.

I don't soak either of my Shaptons either, I've heard some guys have had problems with that - the stone just isn't designed for saturation. I just run it under the tap for a few seconds, then refresh it with a spray bottle while I'm honing. When I'm finished I run it under the tap again and rub it with my palm to loosen the swarf.

One other thing that I've found is critical with the Shaptons is to make sure your blade is completely oil-free or the oil will penetrate the stone and it will start loading up with swarf and getting sticky and gritty. I run my razors under the hot tap water for a few minutes to wash off any oil before I start honing.

I guessed that...but I'm not too sure if my definition of pores is correct....

I will try to take a pic of mine......
