A lot can happen to any edge in a few weeks.
As far as I know, all Revisor razors have a bevel set on a rotating hone and then are honed by hand, no tape involved. And 'factory edge' in this case may be a slight misnomer here, Revisor being quite a small operation run by probably less than a handful of people. Highly skilled people though, to whom "professional honing" is part of the process.

Thanked: 734Neither of my Revisors came shave ready. They both required a bevel reset to even out the edges. Not a big deal as far as I'm concerned but a potential problem for others. The good news is that they take great edges give wonderful shaves once they get the proper attention. And yes, I used a layer of tape on both.

Agreed - my Revisor 8/8 was actually honed by Gssixgun (Glen), and he put a very sweet edge on it. He did note though, that it was a tad challenging to hone, so sending it out to a pro-honer for it's first edge would probably be a good idea.
They're superb blades, probably the best IMO of the "new" production blades.

When in doubt, tape!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 3215Yes, tape the spine if you want to preserve the gold on the spine.
You may also want to ink the bevel to see if the razor was honed. It is common for a factory to hone a new embellished spine with the spine off the stone or the distributor may have taped and honed the razor prior to shipping to you.
Off spine honing will alter the angle somewhat but maybe not that much. Either way ink will tell you and also give you a bit of education of what is happening to the bevel on the hone.
