Thanked: 498That's a pretty big bag. You think she bought it to fit Neil's kit? We know him well enough now to know that he does have a rather large set of them.

OK Guys.
Let's get this thread back on track.
Pretty much all bases have been covered re the razor so until the OP reports back with a honing update I'm sure there are other threads that could do with your assistance.
Thank you gentlemen.

I had some time to hone the Greaves................I had the serene environment I like and my desktop natural light lamp. Ok, Chosera 400, Loupe time and everything looks fine....slivers missing, then to Chosera 1K, again loupe.....feeling life will be good again, soon...Onward to a Chosera 3K, loupe and sunlight on the bevel and we are cooking with gas....now the Chosera 5K and there is an 'event' that occurs on the hone that I know is bad....couple more licks on the 5K and I get off and go to the bay window and put the loupe on it again and guess what is back? Yep.....but is that going to stop me? NO! I skip to the 12K Naniwa, strop the crap out of it and shave.....here is a pic of the 5K as it is drying. Under the loupe those webs look a lot like microcracks. I write the vendor and send him the pic and he informs me it has been more than 90 days and he will forward my email to Naniwa to see what they say. In the meantime I will lap the 'bottom' and see if the same thing happens. The next day I went at it again up to the 3K and there I am stuck for now until I lap the other side of the 5K. I think this was asked before, but has anyone seen this pattern on one of their Chosera hones? None of my others do this.

Just asking, have you been soaking that? Are you going from 5k to 12k?

I was soaking before I first saw these lines and I wrote to the vendor...was soaking for 15 minutes .....website saying good results from a 15 minute soak...then they say after I tell them the problem: soak for 5 minutes. I stopped soaking altogether. No I don't have another hone between 5K and 12K.
