Thread: Honing first NOS razor

CelticCrusader was right. The little bit of honing I did was probably overkill. I think it would have been fine with just some stropping. In any event, it is quite sharp and shaves great. Used a little too much pressure and nicked my chin up fairly good. Next time I'll be used to how keen this razor is and will use less pressure.

I had that very model and it came in a sealed box. It's a super great shaver as all Dorko's are.
By the way you know, these days when we talk factory edge it usually means the razor needs honing out of the box but back in the day a factory edge was truly shave ready. if it wasn't that was a defect and no one would ever keep a razor like that.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 480As a general rule, I work from the top down. Strop it. If it doesn't get shaving, finish hone. I go down one hone step at a time. If its even close to shave ready, there is no need to go back to the bevel setting.
