Part of the challenge of honing is reading the edge, the next part is knowing when to stop honing.. If you are stubborn enough to attempt the process then you are going to have to also accept the challenge to learn the process..

Everyone will offer opinions and suggestions and can tell you what they did with their razors but without having the razor in hand and having a chance to "Read the edge" then we are all just guessing..

I have a simple rule when honing, If I didn't set the bevel myself then I am going to do at least a light bevel set
Watched your 3 part video why the King stone first and not just the Naniwa 1K ?

I took notice of your reference about the norton being the 06 of stones which are you a hunter or a shooter.

You are fine with just the Naniwa SS 1k that will do anything you might want and more.. When you wear out your first 1k then it might be time to think about a dedicated bevel setter

Well, being stubborn is fine and wanting to learn is fine too but do it on an Eboy special. Why would you want to take the chance with a brand new razor?

My view is only do what you have to do. it may only need a light honing on a finishing hone. Once you decide what it needs and show us a picture we can better advise.
