Thread: Factory new Dovo set bevel or half a pyramid

I just received anew Prima Klang extra full do I need to set a new bevel ? strop with .05 crox/diamond or start where on pyramid. Thumb pad test feels dull slides of does not grab.

Suggestions please

I believe the Gssixgun rules is: "If I did not set the bevel then that is were I start"

4K would be my guess unless there are "issues"

Strop on leather,see if it shaves out of the box.

Pyramid will work but that bevel needs to b set.. It's all trial and error.. Strop it and see if it will shave.. If it tugs try next thing a pasted strop of choice.. Then linen then leather.. Still not shaving May be time to think about hitting hones.. Try the 8 k a few laps.. Still nothing then hit the 4 k so on so fourth .. Nothing gets it shaving then may be time to set bevel and go threw progressions

Here's a hint to save you frustration: Check that the edge does not have a frown. It is possible even on new razors as per pic below.

Bring what you have to the meet up. Will get u set up

I also would give stropping and shave testing a try. If it needs more I start at the top, 12k or so and try a touchup. Work my way down if I have to. No deadline to meet. I only go to bevel setting if it is necessary. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't IME. YMMV.

Naniwa 1,5,8,12 also 1.0,.05,.25 diamond spray and .05 crox
