Thanked: 1587I doubt it is anything to do with the hone or a strop. When you think about it and how you move the razor over the hone (or strop) it would be a unique thing indeed to impart markings parallel to the edge like that!
IMO the balance of probability lies with the steel, but I have no idea what that might be sorry. Someone like Mike Blue or Bruno or Spazola etc might have an explanation (assuming it is about the steel, of course).

Progress...
And some scratches from the coticule on the Oohira.
This was mainly a session of circles on coticule and them Jnats with mystery nagura and phig nagura, then down to almost totally clear water and super light circles. Some x strokes.
The hone seems to have some air holes that could harbour coticule grains, so I'm not sure I'll repeat this experiment.

Not enough polishing, admittedly.

It's called alloy banding . Google it & you'll see heaps of info.
I had the same thing happen on a red imp I excessively polished on a Yaginishima Asagi.

Thank you, sir! Brilliant and educational. I will try shaving with it now, but I still think I need to rework the bevel a bit.

No beans. Will try again another day after full work-over.
