Richard the Menomonie Sidewinder, your pic reminds me of folks in the 50's who put clear vinyl on their furniture to save the fabric....you put wet/dry on top of your hone so you don't wear it down? Egads man, that is being thrifty!

I just use a bit or Corian counter top material..or a board across the sink. Some holes to let the slurry drain rather than splash across the counter top. Can do it the other way away from you too.
