And again, this has been very helpful.

New to honing and I was having trouble getting one razor back in to form.
I had first noticed a couple of "sparkles" when I finished stropping one day and looking at them with a 30x lighted loupe I could see a couple of microchips.

So while I was setting the bevel I kept thinking about the "bevel not set" pics - for a novice they help you know where to look and what to look for.
And I could tell both by visual and the tests that work for me (tree-topping arm hair) that the bevel was not set.

Taking a page out of Glen's "change something" and I added a second layer of tape and starting with the 4K - things fell in to place in short order - the shave test is in the AM.

I can see why it was tugging!

    Myself, I use a 10x loupe. Thanks.

I really like this post it has been very informative. I ordered a 30X loupe to help me out a little. I may try honing to that extreme at some point but I think I will stick with what I have for now

Great post and photos. I have looked at them several times and seem to notice things I did not previously. Will keep coming back to look some more.

    Thanks.
