    sic powder and ceramic floor tail ,this is it . Only way for the hard stones ,and its cheap.I even make koordinat system with pensil and cut shalow 2-4 mm chanels so it can be loaded and to hold the sic powder,in it.Fast , cheap , efective .
    sic powder rules.

    Won't sic wear down the granite base tile? I have never been able to decide what to use as a base plate for fear of wearing it along with the stone.

    well ,here's a tip , if you are only roughing in a stone you can start with a cinder block that you have checked with a straight edge for flatness etc.or get three of them and use those three to lap themselves flat-true .cheers cam.as an aside granite tiles are dirt cheap here in Missouri so.....

    I use 320 grit mixed with a lil water on a flat cermaic tile or granite.. don't worry bout wearing down the tile.. the 320 seems to work fast .just make sure u wash ur hones off with water then i wipe em down with a clean microfiber cloth.. good to go
