The "beam of light" created from a strop is different than the light you will see when honing. If the edge reflects light when honing signifies that the bevel and edge don't meet to form a V. A slack strop can cause light to reflect on the edge. The doesn't mean you will have a poor shave as long as it isn't really slack and rolls the edge. When stropping you want the spine to deflect the strop and in doing so making it taut against the edge making it lay flat. I don't know if stropping causes the extremely thin metal at the very edge to convex and cause a micro bevel and reflect light or just clean the edge. Either way as long as it shaves beautifully that is all that matters. At high magnifications it can make a extremely comfortable shaving razor look like something you wouldn't want to touch to your face.
