The suggestion to find a mentor close to you, if possible, is excellent and would have helped me greatly I am sure. Take your time and ask questions here. It is a long road but rewarding in the end. Good luck.

I know that. That's why I am saying I want to learn how to Hone a Straight Razor. There is a lot of difference in the two. There are differences between the two. I am sure not going to try and shave with my Buck 110.or my Buck112. Or a Buck 119BR.

The reason I mentioned that is quite a few new members have confidently mentioned that honing a straight will be easy for them because they have sharpened knives and tools. Not in so may words but between the lines. Oddly quite a few come back and wonder why they were run over by a truck trying to hone a razor. Over confidence can be a killer.

I have to agree with your statement 150% Yes I do know how to use a honing stone to sharpen a knife, but there is a 180% difference between doing a knife and a straight razor.
Yes I will pm 10pups, and see what I can learn.

Yea, sure is different. Can't sharpen a knife to save my soul but can put a good enough edge on a straight for me to shave with, not pro quality though. Great idea contacting 10pups.

All these guys have great advice BUT, if you com to the meet we will hook your brain up to a computer and download the library data base right into your skull :<0) http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...rnia-meet.html

Make a post in the thread so Marty knows your plans and then just show up. Maybe at least 3 or 4 from your neighborhood coming.
This will put more knowledge in your hand than you could ever read about I swear.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
