Yes. I get them out in the mountains. There are a couple of spots I go to when I'm hunting where I harvest the rock. All the rock is local and hand harvested. I do the whole process with wet saws when I get them home. Any new matrix gets tested by me and I often send hones to Mike for further testing. I have lots that I don't like for razors that are waiting for a project.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Just finished a couple more edges on the Haida Gwaii stone. A Parker Japanese Swedish silver Steel, NOS and my Palmera 14. Test shaves were beyond expectations . This stone CUTS beautifully. I can't thank Shaun enough for finding this rock in the middle of nowhere.

I hope he gets more production going so more of us can enjoy these edges. I am convinced this is the "Real Deal" .
My 78 yearold Italian barber used some of these edges today and was very pleased. And he is hard to please. A difficult task master that guy. He makes me try hard for years...........

I have been using one of Shaun's stones for several months now and i love the edge i get. I tend not to use a slurry so it probably take me a few more laps but i get some super smooth and sharp edges. seems like i am still getting a better edge every time i use it too.

I have mostly been honing wedges or near wedges lately but i have some thinner blades coming up in the restore pile here pretty soon.

I have only done two major honing sessions on it so far and if it improves as I go, I'll be flabberghasted............

    Thumbs up Shave Time

This Haida Gwaii stone is keeping me awake at night. I just grabbed two more of my favorite blades and gave them a whirl on the Haida Gwaii. A Revisor Gold and a well restored EasyAces that I am partial to because it takes a sharp edge every time. Both great shavers without the Haida Gwaii stone.

I generally spend 30 minutes on a shave, music and wine included but this stone is allowing me to be done shaving in crack time.

"Musetta's Waltz" and I are down to the same speed anymore!!!

I borrowed this photo but I have a near new duplicate razor exactly like it that I just touched up from the 5k up through the Haida Gwaii.

Wow and double wow! Superior test shave from this superior stone. I hope I am not the only one who is truly loving this stone . I believe my testing is completed. Thanks for listening..............

Is there such a thing as hone clubs around here? I think maybe we should start one for these.
