Last chance
Well I have had this particular razor for almost a year now and have not gotten a good shave out of it yet. When I got it I really don't believe it had been hone except for what the factory did. I really think I have followed the YouTube video like I should and still not right. Now don't get me wrong it shaves it just doesn't perform like some other blades. I have honed it now 3 times and will wait at least 2 days before I use it. If it doesn't perform like I think it should I will take it to a friend and ask what I'm doing wrong. It must be me for this particular razor is of a well known manufacture and the quality is well known. I have no trouble with the Sheffield's I have honed or the other German and USA razors I have honed. I do know one thing and that is I have tried now 3 times and until I know better I want hone again. When I find out what I've been doing wrong I will post and let folks know what I did wrong.

Have you tried adding a microbevel with an extra layer of tape on the last hone?

Not yet. I have honed it with 1-3-5-8-12K naniwa hones and finished with the Suehiro 20K. I looked back on the video of lynns and have tried to follow it exactly. Before I honed it today I shaved with it and then honed it. In 2 or 3 days I will try it again. I have a small collection of sheffields and even a smaller collection of Solingen razors but have no problem with any of them. this is the only one . now it is stainless and none of the others are. Stainless may be different I don't know but by the end of next week I will find out or at my friends convenient.

Can you tell us more of the razor? Make? Hollow ground/wedge? Have you got pics?

Thought I had a photo and put it on the place but can't find it. It's a C Mon. hollow ground square point clear scales. Stainless. when I got it it looked as if it had never been honed. Like I said I get it to shave but not in the class as my Henckel or Tuckmar. Really it's about the least comfortable shaving razor I have so I know it must be something i'm doing wrong.

Overhoning? Warpage? Have you checked (e.g. bevel marker test) whether bevel touches the hone on both sides along its entire length?

Used the magic marker the blades straight. I thought about over honing but I don't think that. maybe not enough. I don't know but i'll find out. Don't have a microscope but my friend has so eventually I find out.

If your sure the razor is flat on the hone and no spine issues exist. I might guess you fell short of really setting a proper bevel went through your progressions and caused a sub par edge especially on inox blades. Check also for chipping I've had inox blades chip up on me on naniwa 12k and will shave harsh. Just a guess by what you said. Get out your loupe give it a good look.
