he could had been much more efficient with a piece of dental floss , somethin' tells me he was either asleep when he wrote that or he has more money than brains, i think he should had invested in a mower better suited for the job than the sears special he probably honed to death.

I would love to see him re attached that blade to his mower, as soon as he turns it upright , there goes that perrrty edge, and what about rocks and twigs was he a grounds keeper at a golf course?

Maybe because the lawn mower was cheaper than the Naniwa's, Escher's & the Sharpton 30K stones he has bought & used to sharpen the blades on a God Damn lawn mower

my young lad would Sh!t if I told him I had to hone the blades on my mower before he mows, as he thinks I have OCD because I want all the grass cut without random Mohawks all over it LOL

if you look at and compare cuts from a Reel push and a gas powered mower, you'll notice that the reel push is a clean cut , and quicker to use that the gass powerd one that looks like each blade of grass was torn in half
I bet he'd have a hoot taking a week to sharpen the funly shaped blades on that one, too. Though, with his level of OCD, he probably mows more often than I shave (at twice a week). Lol.

When I read that... once the head scratching subsided... I just knew had to share with the community. Happy reading!

It's a well known fact that a reel mower actually 'cuts the grass' where a rotary 'hacks the grass'. If someone has never used a reel mower they probably wouldn't have a clue how to sharpen one. (Yes they do need sharpened from time to time) It's not as trick as it seems but definitely doesn't need a 30K hone. In Fact/No Hone is Needed At All.

But what the hell do I know as I'm not an 'Expert' that the guy refers to.

right, a reel mower, would had served him better, and the blades aren't that hard to sharpen,

the dental fljoss garrote method works the best, no ragged edges , every blade of grass the same

I have used a reel mower ever since I had my own lawn to mow. I have found that it is relatively easy to keep the blades sharp with a basic tool hone while spinning the reel backwards.

I'm embarassed to say that I never considered using my Shaptons on it.

The honing part is easy, Utopian. It's stropping the mower every Saturday that gets old...
