You cant go wrong with the nanis and they are great stones to use. Make sure you give them a good lapping before starting and good luck with the honing practice. Maybe see if there is anyone local with a couple hours to show you honing. Will save at least a week of frustration
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Why get hones if you don't shave with them.

Thanked: 3795As someone who owns and uses an actually complete set, in addition to a travel set, I have a lot of experience with the SuperStones. They are great hones, but you would have been better off with the Chosera 1k. The SuperStone 1k is much slower and loads up a lot faster, which is part of the reason that it is slower. It also wears away faster.
In my opinion, the Chosera 1k is worth the extra money.
To the OP, I'm curious to know why you chose to buy it from Japan. I suspect there are several US sources that would have been cheaper.Last edited by Utopian; 05-24-2015 at 07:05 PM.

I really like my super stones; 1,3,5,8 & 12. So far the only one that has seen my good razors is the 12k.
Still using a practice razor with the other stones, getting experience. Have not messed up the practice razor but getting one is still probably a good idea, while learning.

I've been learning to hone for a few years and ill be learning for many more to come.
I'm not sure you can buy a duff razor, learn , then hone your good razors.
Its just money and metal. You cant take it with you so use it... (not really advise, just my thoughts)
