As Glen has stated above,
I agree 100% my 4 hours odd of heavy handed grinding for steel removal was not bevel setting, it was blade restoration to get the blade to a condition to be able to set the bevel
I think even a Chosera 1k would be long winded doing this & the DMT 600 or even a 325 might be the better option (if you have it them) for sure to grind the steel away
The bevel set is the last 50 strokes on the 1k if that with little to no pressure making the edges meet & starting the polishing process

On the wade and butcher, One layer of tape, it has little spine wear I am constantly checking through the loupe. 30x. 1000 is as coarse a stone as I have. So I think it will keep taking time to get right. Its definitely better than when I started but a long way to go.

you could maybe go to a coarser wet & dry on your lapping plate setup to get the edge close then back to the 1k
which is what I should have maybe done with hind sightSaved,

Thanked: 45815 minutes in a razor that's full hollow and another 5 or so if the razor has some geometry problems.
I think I'm probably a bit stiffer than most people with the bevel setting work, but I use oilstones for most of the work and they don't do much damage to the edge like synthetic stones and diamonds can do when they're coarse.
