    Yup. Take a good metal polish paste a piece of cardboard and strop a razor 50-100 laps, it will remove all stria visible on the bevel at 500X, but the edge will be ragged and uncomfortable to shave on.

    So your scratch pattern theory goes out the window…

    There is no question that skill of the operator makes the largest difference, that you have random scratches in all you photos, begs the question, why?

    Looking at random photos of scratches, tell us nothing without context, for all we know they are photo of the exact same spot, from different angles and lighting.

    Clearly some of your photos are of the same spots at different magnification. You are comparing apples and watermelons…

    No, the question is, what does the fineness of the stria/hone and the application (skill of the honer) do to the edge?
