Just got a fairly cheap $60 "supereyes" usb inspection microscope. Designed for circuit board inspection, but appears to work for this too. Enjoy.Name: 20150822122046.jpg

Hi are you saying the scope is magnified X500 ? .
    How does it shave now.
The Nakayama picture ,to the right it looks like your not reaching the edge, that might just be the pictures.

Yes, 500x magnification. This is a single power scope. The shave is ok not great, but better than before. I appreciate your insight..I don't really know how to interpret these. For example, the Aoto and Asagi look very similar to me.

The Nakayama looks alot smoother to me and the Aoto looks like the bevel doesn't meet at the apex, but in each photo the bevel doesn't really look to reach the apex at the peripheral where it is slightly out of focus. The bad thing with scopes is lighting. The same razor at different angles with off lighting can show different things. I am assuming you used slurry and if so I could like to know how often you diluted the solution. To fast of a dilution can diminish results. Jnats are fickle until you can get the basics down with each individual stones and then there is alot more to learn about the stone. I am still learning mine and will probably continue to learn mine for a very long time to come.

I didn't really dilute the slurry. The honing action tends to knock a bunch of slurry out of the way, and I would add some water when dry. Today I'll do some honing with no slurry.

I think you will find a focus button physically or in an app. I have a scope similar ish to yours and that looks like a X20 magnification . Turn the focus all the way in the other direction to get to X500.. Basically at the moment yours isn't that far from a jewellers loop .

My personal advise would be to get that bevel set properly , there should be no shiny part on the very edge until maybe after stropping.

Doesn't look like 500x but looks like it does the job .

Yeah if you were looking at 500x, you would not be able to see the entire width of the bevel.
