There is a member here from France that regularly sells coticule on eBay. That is where it came from. I have never used a Japanese natural as i find them about as interesting as a box of nails.Quote:

There are many more but these will get you started.
First and foremost though is use your naniwa 12k like others have said until you can get consistent great results then worry about all the other hones.

It was time for a touch up on the Shepherd. So I did a total Suita touch up. The karasu is so silky yet the densest heaviest stone with no su. So I started with that and the Shinden tomo. Then onto the Ozuku Suita which is really hard like ivory, but much lighter than the Narutaki karasu. I think the tomo is Okudu that I finished with. Then some light laps under running water.

These pair of Revisors come in every year without fail about this time for their annual honing, just goes to show how long a well-maintained pair of razors can last without honing if they are stropped and looked after correctly.
I hauled out the so-called Norton "axe hone" to finish up this A. Feist & Co. Luna razor that I just cleaned up and rescaled. I went to it after an 8K. Very light to no pressure, not too many strokes. It's making the hairs jump right off my arm! :D

Just a touch up to my wade and butcher 17/16 on the narutaki misu asagi.
Wow, you guys have some great projects going on, and some really interesting razors. I'm just selling razors right now, but I have given honing a try for the first time in a couple years. If it is simple razor with little to no smile I feel like I get a satisfactory edge on my broken combo stone and barber coti. It takes a while on such small stones so that is a little frustrating. A chip only visible under my loupe still seems to take time to remove on my King 1k.
I would really like to see the difference in a razor finished on a 12k though.
If I could get access/time in a shop I would really like to try doing some restoration work using what I've learned from here and past mistakes when I first got into SR restoration and practice pinning.
Have you tried slurrying the King 1K? That will speed things up a bit, but remember to clean away the slurry and use clear water for some passes before moving on to the next hone.Quote:

Stone had to be sealed on sides , sparkly flecks in the matrix.

Here's a Dwyer custom tactical Kiridashi finger nail cleaner. Edge grind marks were removed w Chosera 1K and finished on the Blue Point (like Montgomery Ward Lakeside blue) barber hone dry. Now the CPM3V steel has a custom edge.
