I was just experiencing this last night! Now I'm glad I took a stab at just lightening up the pressure and was justified in my action! :y

Funny you mention Randy and applying the pressure, all the terms, light, medium , heavy , torque. This is why if at all possible to make a meet or go see one of you guys in person, Randy actually explained it to me in simple ways, and this is needed for a guy like me who will bull though everything, he had me put my finger on the hone, and then he put his finger on top of mine and pushed down at the levels of pressure at different stages of working on a razor.
I know simple but effective, I now have a feeling of the different pressures needed, with a real reference, Tc
Make perfect sense. I teach the exact same way. I taught x-ray and ultrasound for 20 years and I put my hand on top of my students all the time to give specific direction. Some may think it funny or strange to put their hand on anothers. It is the shortest quickest most effective teaching method when touch is being taught. I was taught in the same manner. It gives a point of reference and muscle memory in less than a minute, lasts a lifetime.
I always smile when I see posts of guys saying it takes hours to set a bevel & I think to myself they're honing the spine not the edge.
Two really sweet razors..
Both mint a C-MON HF (Handforged) and a Wilbert with covered tang
Honing Mint Vintage razors is such a treat they behave so nicely on the hones.
Both of these ended up on the Blue/Green Escher with a smooth as silk edge

Nah ... They call it cabin fever for a reason. I just am hiding my crazy brain. Went through my whole collection. Feeling each blade and triaging them. Not a one needs a honing or even a touch up. You at least have honing and a song.
Well my user-grade Hayashi did slip a tiny bit or I just for some reason didn't get the edge I wanted off my karasu. This stone, a living edge kiita, is almost identical to the karasu in honing properties, but variety is the spice of life. And I got the edge I wanted after koma and tomo. BBS this morning.
Cheers, Steve

It may not look like much but this was my first ever straight razor. I gave it to my friend for a year and just recently got it back. He quit lol.
Brought it through my Norton 4/8k to one of my coticules. Sweet shave. I haven't shaved with a straight for a couple of months now. Was nice to get back into the game with the rest of you.

Keep em coming sirs.. Here s a Tiger razor that I sniped off Ebay. It had a bit of a frown which was easy to fix on the DMT w/ Soap-n-water. Yesss, my DMT has it's own Yoga mat.....

1 layer tape and on to the 1K to expose an edge to see what we had to work with.

The steel showed no signs of pitting or temper loss, so off comes tape and re-set the bevel. This is a personal razor. Mike
