Sand paper in stages - 320 grit, 600 grit, 1k, 2K. Then if I'm feeling frisky I'll rub it against other hones of varying grit until I have the polish I want.

Dragon's tongue on far left polished to 8K. PHIG right of that polished to the same. Lynn Melynllyn (purple Welsh slate) 3rd over from left was burnished on the PHIG after 8k, and the Welsh Slate on the far left was polished on the 8k, PHIG, and LM for an extremely smooth surface. Note that with a slick coat of water, they are literally reflective like a mirror. Careful use of their respective slurry stones should keep them that way.
