Maybe a rhetorical question. Did you use the same pressure as you use on razors not sharpened with the 20k ?

Much is written about bevel setting and pressure. Not much is written about 8K and up with regards to pressure.
Chasing the perfect edge & your tag line. I dont have the 20K Yet, after the 12K experience I question its place.
Tips about how to use my hones is why I keep hanging around. Pre this post I jumped from 8K to my natural finishers with no problems. 12K just arrived this week.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

It seems the 12k will make a harsh edge after 25 or so laps, FME. It depends upon how sharp it is off the 8k, or previous hone.
Adversely, it seems I can go forever on the blue-green Escher without any issues?
Weight of the blade only on finishers. Like you are honing a feather on water.
I subscribe to weight-of the-blade on everything past 4k. Just me!

    No,no you missed my point
I meant pressure when shaving. A really sharp razor will leave weepers if shaving with the same pressure as a less sharp razor.

Indeed, Oz! Blade angle may be reconsidered as well?

Absolutey. The instructions from the vintage makers to keep the blade virtually flat on the face was obviously considering a properly sharp razor.

Looking back. You are both correct. I didnt adjust my pressure with shaving. And I used a true wedge, which is not my normal.
Actually the weepers hurt. I never had shaved off of a 12K before. I still have much to learn. Keep the advise coming.
Pre March 2016 I used Chosera 1K, 5K, then a natural finisher. The SN8K and SS12K are new to me.
A pile of finishers with no way to maximize them seemed pointless.

One thing at a time, Johnathan! If you change several things at once with subpar results, which ones were wrong? You may well be overhoning at the 8k level. Everything after that is just making it worse?
Takes time and work/experience. A bit at a time. All of us are always learning! No end to it, I think!

    Sometimes, less is best!
