Mid range j-nat prep on Lauterjung Tiger for the SOTD thread.

Here is a unique striped thruringian with light green slurry. This stone was acquired from a jeweler. Very fine final finisher.

Shave test positive. Keep on honing!

A new Dorko BUND - ROSTFREI / stainless steel / from the flea market . Those stupid people did not stop chiping brand new razors, NOS blades , truyng to sharpen a pensils with them
AND when they chip the blade heavyly , they decide to sell it
Anyway chiped ,never used Dorko 6/8 - a 5/8 now
I hone it and i shave with it - Amazing shave. Very good stainless steel , reminiscent of the Friodur stainless steel of Henkels
Hones of the day are - first my grinder , after Diamand plate 600 grit, Makitta 1200 stone / Suehiro deluxe 1200 / and full progretion of Micawa nagura on a ultra hard Assagi stone from Maruoyama
Finish on Nakyama green tomae . Pure leather 70 - 80 laps on a padle and shave with the Silk Pajamas shaving soap
I wish those people left the razors alone and not chiping and breaking them so nasty evey time .

Touched up a Schœn Burg frameback that was rescaled by Stefan on a hard fine karasu. Silent HHT root in or root out, this is a good blade.

    Cheers, Steve

Plan is to take a W&B 8/8 for a refresh to the Nani 12k, which always works for me, but this time, going to try going to go to this Escher after to get a nice smooth Escher edge. Tried this before, and it never seems to work, any insights as to how I should approach this? I realize I'm going potentially back in grit from the 12k, but I still should be able to finish on this stone. I've just tried refreshing only using the Escher before, same as with the Nani 12k, 20 laps, no more, and doesn't seem to refresh the edge.

Here's the stone I'm going to use, this seems to be an older Escher stone, very dark blue, almost black in colour.

Massive frustration and rage sure to follow, but here's the plan for a nice Sunday afternoon....

Not familiar with that stone. But I like to do about (don't count) 60-80 passes on a blue/green Thurigan, after the 12k.
Gives me a superb, smooth shaving edge on all my blades. No need for cr/ox or fabric, just leather. 30 slurried,50 water.
    Leaves a nice foggy finish.

Thanks! Did exactly that, doubled and went to 40, wasn't satisfied, and ended up doing at least 80, slow and gentle over the Escher Water Hone, water only, will be up for the only test that counts for me, see if it shaves silky smooth....

Consider water only after the 12K. Do 10 strokes and test. Going from 12K to Thuri feels like honing on a much harder surface. Feels like backwards... Till the strop and shave. By my TPT I hate myself as well. The good that you did with the thuri and shines the brightest is while shaving. I end up doing 25 feather pressure laps water only strop and shave. Then I ask "How does that work scientifically?"
Your only as good as your last hone job.
