Test Shave! Gave it a try today....
I was able to do an entire shave! It pulled some on the first pass, and I had to do 3-4 strokes on each pass, but it did cut. ATG was harder than others, but doable. Overall, it did a reasonable job. Irritation was low as well.
I was really surprised with this razor, that it seemed to get sharper at 4K and 8K (I expected it to be sharp at 1K and then smoother feeling later).
I still need to strop this puppy - hopefully it won't be hard given the odd geometry of this blade.Regards,
PCM

Thanked: 3215Nice looking bevel and straight edge. Stropping will improve the edge, as will stropping on some Chrome Oxide.
Good work, that bevel and edge have come a long way.
Stropping should not be an issue with the bevel.

Thanked: 3215You can strop and shift pressure to the toe or heel (straight stroke), use an X stroke and naturally shift the pressure from heel to toe, but that can be a bit of a challenge and may be easier to do on a paddle strop, or you can do straight laps, stropping the toe, heel, separately and then the middle, to blend, changing the angle slightly to keep the edge perpendicular to the strop edge
A lot depends on your skill, with all of them, do not use excessive pressure, just enough to keep the spine and edge on the strop.
It is really not excessively smiling and you might reach the whole edge with a regular stroke.
What you can do is lightly ink the edge with a colored sharpie, by lightly dragging the felt tip along the edge so you are inking both sides of the edge at the same time.
A paper towel with a shot of WD40 on the towel, will wipe any ink off the strop. With the bevel inked you will see which strokes work for you. But I think with just a bit of a modified stroke you can reach the whole edge.
Or strop on a folded piece of newspaper. Newspaper btw will give you a nice edge, you can even paste it.Last edited by Euclid440; 04-12-2016 at 02:58 AM.
