Ron,
Yes, routinely I view the edge under a scope as I progress on the hones. From what I can tell, the bevel looks good, as does everything else. Yet, the bloody thing is not taking a very good edge. In fact, my friend, the great honing master, a legend of sort, really, indicated improper tempering as the problem, and that eventually if enough steel is removed, the problem might be resolved. Interesting thought.

Thanked: 4249Interesting thread Obie, will be interesting to see what happens to this blades. Had a Puma that gave me fits as well, send it to a very experienced honer without any results either, hope the outcome of this razor is better then mine being NOS and all.

My puma 63 was also a p.i.t.a to get to take a edge and took multiple times to get right. I had 1 other that really wouldn't take a edge. The steel was the hardest I have come across and even on a dmt 325 it took a long time and a decent amount of metal before it would take a bevel. It actually didn't loose anywhere near as much metal as a normal razor would for the couple hours it spent on the dmt. Once it finally took a edge though the edge it took was magnificent. It got the nick name the pig and I walked away a few times before succeeding.
