You've never honed an edge to 8k that shaved very well?

You can shave off an 8k edge decently but it is not what I want.

I believe if you are learning to hone and take the advice to master 8k first, you'll likely be happy with it (your beard, face, and preferences allowing) until you experience a good thuri, coticule, jnat, or high grit edge.
