Ok, now that the kidding is out of the way...I have a couple of razors where the toe kind of turns up like that. Nothing the standard rolling X-stroke won't hone up.

I'm with Bob in regard to the spine. A layer of tape while honing may have been the better solution.
My father is buried at Arlington his funeral was truly amazing. I visit as often and sometimes you will hear from other burials. I really don't think this razor deserves all that!!

So does the tape make up the difference of the taper? It is shave ready other than the end of the toe.

Maybe a little bit of overkill. But amusing in light of another thread rolling in the conversation section. I even found a video of a real bugler!

I'm sure it'll still turn into a nice shaver. My first one looks about like that...it took a year to get there though lol. Now's a good time to start taping the spine and learning a proper X stroke. And remember to change the tape often. Tape wears faster than steel, and lets the edge roll up off the hone.

Thanks. So ignore spine wear on used razors? Add tape until your honing the entire razor?

First and foremost, I'd Never Ever add to Any Hone Wear on the spine or edge in a attempt to 'Even' things up, it just takes time and practice to learn how to hone a wonky blade or one with uneven hone wear.

A layer of tape or two helps 'slightly' raise the spine and prevents additional unnecessary wear.

Personally I'd put two layers of 3M 700 tape on the spine (yes it is much better than the run of the mill you find in most places) and have a go with it. Use the magic marker on the edge to see what you're doing. Here again the marker is your friend.

Why the 'Other Razor'? Why not this one? After all 'this razor' is the one you asked questions about. Just wondering
