Thanked: 4827I hear you on that.
It is very expensive flying from where I am to places in the US or Canada. It is actually cheaper for me to travel to Hawaii than Toronto or any major city in the US or Eastern Canada with the possible exception of Vegas. I think the casinos subsidize the airfare to Vegas. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 3227There really is no one universal parameter/telltale sign that a bevel is set. The best you can do is through trial and error to see which work for you, your hones, your particular blades and your technique. I had to learn on my own and I can tell you it took a looooong time to get near acceptable results. It is an art more than a science. How long would it take to learn to play the piano at an expert level learning on your own.
The best way to learn is from a mentor and as Glen said there are forum members in Belgium, Holland too, that may be near enough to get some in person lesson from.

Aloha!
I agree. I typically fly through Vegas from Hawaii and back again. You find that most Hawaiians fly through Vegas to other points on the Mainland - or they just go to Vegas for a vacation. Oddly, most local Hawaiians don't hang or stay on the Strip. They stay at the California Hotel in downtown Las Vegas (The CAL as Hawaiians call it), not on the strip. This hotel over the years has tuned in to Hawaiians visiting Vegas and caters to Hawaiians.
But back to flying, Vegas is usually the least expensive hop from Honolulu to the mainland and back, unless you are flying Hawaiian Airlines. For some reason, Honolulu to Sacramento and back on Hawaiian Airlines is sometimes as inexpensive or even less than flying through Vegas on the other airlines. It's been this way for years. But regarding Vegas and low airline fares, I would not doubt that the casinos and especially "The Cal" make sure these fares stay low to and from Hawaii.
From my Florida pad, I always fly in and out of Orlando. I think Disney is like the Vegas casinos and they keep the fairs low to Orlando.
