Thanked: 13245I use my 325 DMT but it is pretty worn
I think the slurry will give you a more "Mellow Feel" to the edge it won't change the actual keeness
As to the amount of strokes, see that gets tuff I believe the edge is built much lower and all the finisher should effect is the feel
Have you taken the 1k bevel set challenge ??? Can you shave at 1k ???
The step ladder challenge is even better
Grit numbers vary but basically
Shave at the 1k bevel set
Shave after the 4k level
Shave after the 8k Level
Shave after the Finisher
Do only 20 laps on clean leather before each shave
You can just do a couple of test strokes to get a feel of the edge at each level but this really teaches you what each step is giving to the final edge
You can also add or subtract ideas at each level to see what they bring to the final outcome

The dish soap was meant to use on the lapping film not the 12 k.. Sorry for the confusion.. Try to torque the razor very lightly towards the edge..misty slurry is your friend on the 12k as Glen stated.. Bring the 12 k with you to the sink when you shave.. Try 10 strokes..and so on til you feel what your looking for an a edge.. Everything below 12khas to b balls on for the finisher to really give you that kick
