It has to be either really scratch stones, more polishing work needed on the surface or I pressed too hard and the bevel touched the stone more than it should.
Or you have some stray grit on the stone or on the stone you use to raise slurry. I use a ScotchBrite pad (nylon abrasive pad) to clean off my stones after use to help avoid that kind of cross contamination.
