Thanked: 1I realized the microchips looked like cavities due to surrounding oxidation and this was consistent for each microchip that I'd developed after rehoning. Better lighting w/ the microscope made all the difference in spotting that.
I took it to a 1000 grit stone and spent some time removing metal and it seems well enough for now. No more marks along the edge so I think I win for now.
