Quite common, I find that one side of the blade on a razor will lie flat on a hone and consequently will have even removal of the marker on the bevel and yet the other side will have issues. I'm working on a razor now that passes the marker test except for the toe, then on the other side, the opposite of yours, the center makes contact with the hones but the toe AND the heel don't. I'm waiting for the rolling hone stroke video, but at this point, sorry guys, this guy adds a wee bit of pressure where needed to manually correct.
