Question on a natural polishing water stone
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the straight razor scene. I do however have a question in regards to maintaining a razors egde. I have a natural water stone that I bought for my other addction of scandinavian knives. It's from woodcraft and is extremely smooth and provides almost a mirror like finish to my scandi edges. I was wondering if I could also use this as a final and or touching up type hone to maintain my razor's edge prior to proper stropping. Here is a link for a full description of it. I have the the smaller one, they say it's around 12,000+ grit.

Going on the link you sent it's a natural Chinese waterstone , which If I'm not mistaken a few other members have and give great reports of the results . Ideal for a final finish/polish on your razors

Yes, you will see that stone referred to as the Chinese 12K. Lapped, it is a great finishing stone for straights. Great bang for the buck.

Thanked: 2209I love my Chinese 12K! I have two of them! Just be aware that they are finishing hones. You will need a shaving sharp edge before you use it.
Generally speaking, we use a 4000-8000-finishing stone- abrasive pasted paddle strop sequence for honing a str8 razor. One of the most popular stones here is the Norton 4000/8000.
