Thanked: 351Well... tugging around the jawline is not uncommon I would think. I have that sensation verses the rest of my face but in no way is it uncomfortable, it's just something I notice and learn to ignore. I suspect it has to do with the fact that it's hard to get the angle of the edge perfect as it follows around the corner of the edge of the jaw and that it's almost impossible to keep the skin even remotely taught in that area. I realize that factory sharpened and paper thin DE blades and the like will tug less but then, they aren't much fun to shave with either in a flimsy shavette. If you can shave with and against the grain without issues on the *easy* parts, most likely everything is fine and you just need to work on your angles and get used to the little bit of tugging.... By the way, tugging with a DE blade is PAINFUL, but not so with a traditional straight... at least not for me. I should mention I also find more tugging with the infamous Feather Artist Club in that area than I do with a DE and the Feather is sharper than any traditional straight I've ever used though some of the truly skilled at honing gents with Shapton 30K hones can apparently get pretty close to the same results but it takes a light hand to survive the shave without nicks!
I base the comfort of *my* shaves on being able to shave with and against the grain without painful tugging and not leaving stubble behind. Once a single pass starts to leave telltale signs of stubble, I know it's time to hone and that's before it gets uncomfortable when going against the grain.
Regards

Thanks. I'll keep doing what I'm doing then. I'm sure being so new I can always improve.
