I have not got a narrow hone so i have started with 1k norton to get this bevel as level as pos and i have litterly used the last inch of hone and imagined it is narrow. Using x pattern and reallyrocking or rolling stroke and marker test quite often took my time and the bevel as come up a treat right from the heal to the toe there is still a slightly thinner part on one side but the bevel panes are bang on . i have oviously moved up grits 4k 8k and bbw plus coticule and i have to say this ti is now an exallant shaver infact i would say the feel and shave is to me is perfect. Thanxs once again for the advice and it least i no how to tackle a warped blade.

Not sure if the pix will adequately display the results but this 8/8 Joe Rodgers is a case in point. Aside from the warped spine it had a heck of a chip and took a lot of work. I bought it from a fellow locally. He said his grandfather had owned it and it had no wear. Fifty bucks well spent as it turned out to be a heck of a shaver.

A great example of this forum's resources. Thanks to Russell I used the rolling x and thanks to Lynn the 45 degree angle. I also, thanks to a post by Chris L, used narrow Norton single grits from Tools For Working Wood. Without the forum I had a piece of junk. The bevel on the mark side is narrow and even from point to heel while the reverse side is barely there on the heel and wide at the point but it shaves well and is sharp from one end to the other.

Edit; And as always I taped the spine with one layer of electrical tape.

Years ago I was doing ironwork for a living. A I got a Hamilton dress watch for a present and wore it to work. Promptly smacked it up against a column and broke the crystal. I took it to an old watchmaker. I wanted to know if it was worth fixing so I asked him if it was a good watch. He said,"Does it keep good time ? If it keeps good time it is a good watch." Moral of the story being if it shaves good it is a good bevel.

I think if you laid his razor flat it would look like that. He doesn't have a frown, it's warped. From the bevel he put on it to make it work, if you sighted down the spine (with the razor standing on it's edge like in your picture) from the heel to the toe, the edge would bend to the right at the toe.

Every story deserves a picture. I was hoping you could shoot it from a different angle.

Straight down on the edge, and/or sighting along the edge would probably show it.
