I could'nt help noticing my yellow coticule looked thicker at one ene and leaned down towards the left so i laped using pencil grid on my dmt which most people use and with in 20 seconds pencil grid was removed so surface must be flat i have repeated this several times but still yellow part on top of slate looks thicker one end and the left hand side looks thinner i have measured and it is acouple of mil out in thickness which is baffaling me i have layed hone on glass and it does'nt rock it sits very firm as any one else noticed this or could it be the blue part that is throwing me out.

Yes, but your surface is still flat. You can't expect the lapping stone to make your hone leveled. You see?

+1 level and flat are two different things.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

I have even worse off, and worse they are synthetic so i am pretty sure they began with parallel faces. So I know it was all me. For a nat. the best you say i suppose is : it depends.
After working on automatic for a long period that's what I got.
I guess i had taught myself some bad muscle memory, and needed to gradually correct the non-parallel ones, and try to develop less bias in my handling. I know now the lower left corner for instance will always be the thinnest part of my hone if I just go at it so I just let a little more effort go to the rest of the hone to balance out my ingrained bias.
The main thing is checking it out, and you done that.

You can't judge true flatness by looking at the edge, it'll throw you. Do you have a metal straight edge?
You can pick them up cheap at Home Depot or Lowes, I'm sure. If not, let me know and I'll get you one. The side of the Coticule that's glued to the slate will vary in size from end to end. As long as you usable side is true, your good. Hope this makes sense.....Rich
