Pre honed blade.Huge difference?
I have never bought a prehoned, shaveready blade.Mabe I should have, when I started shaving with a straight. But that was before I found SRP.
Anyway, my honing skills have improved very much since I started.I am now able to put a great edge on all of my razors. But I still wonder, do you think I would feel a big difference from buying a pre honed razor from a vendor? After all I am on a quest for the ultimate edge

i have still thought about sending one of my razors out just to see how i compare. i can put a nice edge on any of my razors and they all shave nice afterwards. it would just be nice to know where i stand i guess. if i had the option of buying it shave ready i would go for it, if it isn't better then my way (which really isn't my way since i live on these forums
) then i can always redo it right.

Thanked: 735Honed by a "honemiester" here may be worthwhile.
I have never been impressed by the "pre-honed" offerings from most vendors...

Yes, but buying from classic shaving or straight razor designs would meen that Lynn probably would hone it.Wouldn't it?

I am glad that I got 3 honed by Lynn early on and 2 honed by The Topher. It gave me a benchmark to shoot for in my own honing as well as something to use until I could hone a razor well enough to satisfy my needs. If you are honing well enough now it is probably not necessary but it would give you something to compare your work with and another good razor to use and enjoy.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
