Default Metal polish on razor edge

We've all read about and/or used diamond paste, chrome oxide, etc., to polish the razor edge and I think it's common knowledge that restorers use Flitz, Maas, etc., to put the final polish on the rest of the razor after sanding.

But, has anyone ever used Flitz or Maas on a strop or newspaper as a polishing agent for the edge? Just curious.

I have the same question as Badboris: I experimented with some metal polish on card board and got a very sharp edge, but don"t understand how it's possible: the polishing agents aren't supposed to be as fine as chrome oxide.

Most liquid polish has no actual abrasive but has chemical abrasives. Of course some do have some actual abrasives so you have to check the label.

I am not curious enough to try it as my diamond spray and crom ox deliver the goods but Bon Ami and Comet have light abrasive in them. Maybe sprinkled on newspaper they might give a light polish to an edge.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Its not abrasive in the usual sense. The chemicals can dissolve gunk on the edge and it polishes up the edge, removes rust and spots.
