Most beautiful stone?
Hey all,
So I was just wondering, what stone do you find to be the most beautiful? I'm not talking about performance, but merely aethestic quality. I'm not going to limit the question to naturals, but I have a feeling a lot (all) of the preferrences will be for natural stones.
So far, the stones I have are a norton 220/1000, 4000/8000, a 6" x 1 1/4" coticule combo, a 8" x 2" coticule, and a 5" x 1 1/8" y/g thuringian. Performance aside, I think the coticule can be the most beautiful stone there is. The colour of it can be magnificant, and the pattern on the surface? Truly gorgeous!! So my vote is for the Belgian coticule.
So what do you think the most beautiful stone out there is?

I'm at work so I can't post a pic but my pink natural coticule. I also find the Dalmore Blue to be an attractive stone.

My vintage 150+ year old coticule natural combo that I'll be passing down to the next generation:
My Nakayama Asagi is probably my most unique and aesthetically interesting.
Dalmore Blues are amazing as well. I have one but don't have pics.

Wow, nice stones, thanks for sharing!
So I must admit I've never heard of a Dalmore Blue before, so I will DEFINITELY need to see a picture of one of those.
Jimmy, I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of your pink coticule a while back on some thread....well it was someone's at least! But definitely a very beautiful stone.

Someone posted pics of a Dalmore Blue fairly recently. We had a big discussion about them. A search should bring it up. Beautiful swirled pattern.

Thanked: 2209One of my natural Japanese stones really stands out. Sorry, no pic's now. I think it is an asagi, one step down from a finishing stone. Basically a white stone with streaks of maroon/red/gold.

Here is a Dalmore Blue, a striped coticule and my pink natural coticule. A splash of water to better show the figure in the first two and only on half of the pink for an idea of the color dry and wet. Lovely stones posted by Chris, Zeth and Old School.
