Thanked: 17Deal on DMT hones
I'm in to woodworking and saw that woodcraft has their 80th anniversary 3 hone set on clearance for $59.99. The first two hones are non-continuous (with the little holes) - 600 and 1200 grit. The third stone is a continuous 8000 grit stone (D6EE?). They are all 6"x2".
I'm mainly getting these for woodworking tools, but the last stone sounds promising for razor use too. For $20.00 per stone, you can't go wrong.

Thanked: 17You are correct, I can't find a stand-alone 6 inch 8000 grit continuous stone. However, that is what is described in the 80th anniversary set Dave linked.
I'll let you know what I end up with next week!

I hope it's not a misprint. A 2" x 6" EE would be a neat companion to pack along with a barber hone or similar sized coticule...

It's not a misprint. I just grabbed the last one at my local Woodcraft store. Definitely a 3 micron 2" x 6".
DMT's regular channels and their consumer link (both internet and by phone) still say they know nothing about a "D6EE". Apparently it isn't a regular catalog item yet.
Woodcraft tells me the warehouse still has about 600 units left.

Thanked: 77Tool makers/companies often put out one-off, limited edition issues for anniversary, special company occassions, etc. Snap-on for example had a boxed set of gold plated box end wrenches. Stuff like that. Wouldn't surprise me if the 6" is only avaliable in this set and may never make the catalog.

Thanked: 17I received mine today. It's as described. D6EE. Can't wait to try it out!
