Default Chinese stones from open_razor... already lapped?

Has anyone bought one of the Chinese stones from open_razor recently? He is advertising them as already lapped flat and edges chamfered... I was wondering how well these are done; if they are 'close' but need more work, or if they should be ready to go upon receipt... after verification, of course.

It is an extremely fine stone and apart from being lapped flat and the edges chamfered it is unused (if you buy elsewhere it will not be lapped and chamfered - beware that although some people say that the stone needs falttening, it most certainly does need flattening - this has already been done for you!).

Yeah, I bought one from him, it was lapped quite well. Id say you could have used it as it came without any trouble but I lapped mine some more anyway and I cleaned up the sides and base while I was at it

Thanks mddittman, I just bought one and am waiting for it to arrive. How is the quality? The price was great. I was afraid it might be a little to good to be true. Hope it's worth it!

I don't know... I haven't ordered yet, I wanted to ask first. I imagine even if it's not completely ready, it has to be better than one straight from the factory?

I was just hone shopping today to get my first quality stuff... all my stones (if I can even find them) are various Arkansas stones and such that you'd get for knives, probably from Walmart or something.

I already ordered the Woodcraft 80th Anniversary DMT set, I'm hoping that the 12k will 'complete' it as a basic, inexpensive kit.

It was my first natural and my first stone finer than 6k and Im new to razor honing so I cant really speak with any authority on how well the stone works but it seems like a good un to me. I really want a slurry stone to use with it, it is a slow cutter as everyone says and I like it.

Heres mine at the top of this pic, it has some nice figure, the banding on mine isnt some kind of included vein as some have reported but just a pattern in the sediment which has no effect on the smoothness of the stone
