Thanked: 286Swift sure razor hone
Has any one heard of the above hone or has any one have one and how many strokes would i use to refresh a razor. It has one side darker for final polish and one side lighter for a slightly dull razor its basicly a barbers hone i have never used one before i use coti but i'd like to add this hone to my collection. any recomendations on how to use best i have heard you don't need many strokes on vintage barbers hones.

I've never heard of that kind of hone, but from what I've read it shouldn't take more than 5-7 strokes on a barber hone to bring back an edge. This is of course on an edge that is only slightly dull and needs only a little touching up.

barber hone
what you heart is right.you will need only3-5 strokes with leather, water etc.that is it.this is for finest side.If you do more then this it brakes the edge down very fast.courser side is for sharpening dull blades.hope this helps.

yes
sure you can but use constantly under running water.it will leave scratches don't worry about it a lot.use pencil mark to find out when you done with lapping.if you don't like scratches on your hone after dmt use 400-800 sanding paper to take scratches out.
