Thanked: 156In theory, using a pasted strop will round out the bevel very slightly. So, in theory, the bevel will need some work to get it to a perfect bevel. In reality, I'm not sure how many times you have to go to the paste to round out the edge to such a degree. However, bevel reset to me means going to a 1k stone or even a 300. At most, to reset the bevel from a pasted strop, all that should be necessary is a 4k or 8k even. So, quick answer: no, bevel reset should not be needed. Long answer: you are straightening out the slight apple seed edge the pasted strop has created, but the bevel for the most part is still there, your just straightening out the edge.

Thanked: 398I think my next move will be to get a really dull but not damaged razor and see if I can set the bevel, sharpen it and finish it with nothing but my BBW/Coticule and cr0.

Thanked: 398Ohh also, would you go from belgian blue with slurry to swaty then coticule with water or would you use the swaty after the coticule or simply not use it at all?
thanks

Thanked: 1195I think it should be noted that the bevel would be rounded A LOT quicker if using a pasted hanging strop as opposed to a flat paddle strop. I'm not a long time paste user, so I can't say that I've rounded a bevel in this fashion, but it does make sense.

Thanked: 398haah! How many passes do you typically do on it and what's your honing progression if you don't mind me asking?

Thanked: 1195Don't mind at all. I've so far used it for some minor touch ups, not to smooth out a honed edge. First razor I used it on - about 15 laps and got maybe three good shaves, then I figured it could have used a little more so I gave it another 10 count and got an awesome shave. This stuff works! I've tried it on a couple other razors and got similar results. I find it's mostly trial and error, but erring on the side of caution. I don't know if a stainless will require more laps than carbon...... maybe someone else can answer that one.
